Digital mock-ups
In order to include some processes that were relevant to my project, I looked into including foiling within my designs. I was surprised at how easy the process was and I was also disappointed in myself for not trying it before as the results were so effective.
I started by mocking up some possible front cover designs for my publication, and purchase a selection of foils that reflected my content - turquoise, silver and purple. The simple laminating process was used, as this seemed to be the most time effective method.
Turquoise
This colour was the most successful out of all of the foils. I feel it really reflects the content of the publication, adding an extra dimension to the title. As all the text was fully black, the foil stuck to all of the text, creating a really nice finish. Although this was just an experiment, I feel that this would be a really stand out and simple way of making my publication distinguished and exclusive.
Silver
Although the silver is still effective, I don't believe it reflects the content as well as the turquoise does. It makes it appear quite cold and clinical.
Purple
The purple is the least effective. It has very little relevance to the content and doesn't seem to tie in with the theme at all. It appeared quite tacky, looking more like a sweet wrapper than a fashion publication.
