WHAT IS GOOD - illustration development

Initial illustrations that I started to develop using opacities and overlapping colours. In order to get quite a loose hand drawn aesthetic, I used my graphics tablet to draw each image. A plate of colour was used behind each product, and outline strokes were kept to a colour similar to that of the fill so that it blended.

I then went on to use the scanned in fabrics and papers to attempt to create pattern on top of each image. I thought that this would be an interesting addition, making it more quirky and suitable to the audience. Initially, I felt that this was successful, however, I soon really tired of these designs. They seemed a little childish and sickly, they also made the end product look really cheap and tacky. I therefore planned on rethinking the entire visuals, but somehow wanted to incorporate the use of scanned items.
