VISUAL LITERACY

From our chosen letter, we had to go away and create 7 different variations of it
- light/italic
- regular/italic
- bold/italic
- ultra condensed

This was achieved by skewing the letters and changing the stroke size. The letters were skewed by about  -8. After cutting them out and placing them into the different categories with everyone else's letters, it soon became very apparent that I could have skewed my letters a lot further to emphasise the 'italic'. On their own they didn't even look that much different to the regular letters. The boldness of them could have been strengthened also, as they look different when standing alone in comparison to on a page altogether.

I found it quite easy however, working from a light letter and building them up to ultra condensed. This way it was a steady scale to getting to that point. It would have been a struggle to start from the opposite end and gradually make the letter lighter, in my opinion. The chosen letter 'b' was also quite a nice one to work with, as it italicised well and didn't become deformed due to its simple lines.
