We took our coffee sleeves out into the environment around the college, into two different cafes - Froth & Fodder and Miro. These cafes were chosen for a number of reasons. Not just because of location, but also because we felt that they fit in perfectly with our target audience. The people visiting these cafes, consisted largely of students, however teachers, lecturers and office workers would also purchase products from here. This way, we would be delivering a positive message mainly to those of similar interests to us.
Froth & Fodder stood out to us in particular as we have noticed on a number of occasions that the board outside always reads similar quotes to that of our own. This was extremely positive, and it meant that our product had something in common with the company. It wasn't just going to be a random addition to their cafe.
Admittedly, to begin with, it was quite difficult to take photos of our product in action. This was mainly because we didn't want to seem too obvious, like we were sitting there waiting for people to react. It's also not the most comfortable experience to have your photo taken whilst going to grab a coffee.
We had to wait to see the reaction before we approached, otherwise the whole experience wouldn't be worth it.
Not many take out coffee's were ordered during the period of time we were there, as many people favoured sitting down. We were uncertain as to whether this was because of the time of day we had chosen to visit or whether or not this was always the case. It came as quite a surprise to us, as usually you would expect university students etc to not have the time to sit down. If we were to do this again, we would definitely discuss further with the manager what would be the best time to come.
Although getting photo's was a problem we did get some feedback from customers that we spoke to.
“I come in here everyday and it’s nice to see a change in the cups. It really brightened up my morning.”
“It would be nice to see something like this more often.”
“Really cute! Very quirky.”
