RESPONSIVE - design development

After looking at my research, I wanted to compile together a collection of objects and images that related to each of my individual subjects in order to build up my pattern. These objects must relate to and reflect that individual so that it is obvious which bottle is which.

I started off by hand drawing a range of images that represented Cara Delevingne.

Once I had the drawings, these were scanned in and live traced so that I could start building up a pattern.

I then began to add colour and see how the images could be placed together to create a pattern that was representative of Cara. When I began this process, I realised that the colours schemes I had previously looked at, during my research into the individuals, weren't fully reflective of the objects and of the individuals themselves. I therefore just began experimenting with other colours and how this could reflect them.

Whilst working with the hand rendered illustrations, things got rather tricky and annoying. The strokes wouldn't change pt size and they didn't seem to look all that effective, just a little bit messy. Although I normally prefer working this way, it didn't seem suitable for the product. I therefore made the decision to start working with vectors.
Using the same images, the pen tool would be used to trace the original photographs, giving me cleaner lines, allowing me to easily add colour and change the stroke.
