BAKING - workshop

List a minimum of five things I need to research into - specify down

1. Baking has become really popular lately and there has been a big baking craze - consider the Great British Bake Off and the Mary Berry Story - why has baking had a rise in popularity? What has caused this? And who are the audience?
2. What area of baking in particular I’m wanting to look at, need to specify whether or not it’s cakes, desserts, pies, sweet, savoury etc  but also... consider the other parts to baking - the methods and recipes, flavours or utensils for example. What area is it that interests me?
3. What area of range will you look into? Packaging and promotion, branding and identity etc
4. Who will the audience be? Consider the recent popularity of baking with the younger audience - modernising baking
5.

What do you want to improve/how do you see yourself improving through this project?

1. Processes are on the top of my list. Whilst I experimented with them within the last brief, it wasn't too their full potential. Now I am more aware of different processes, I feel much more confident in applying them to my work, creating different outcomes.
2. Developing more of a range, and making sure that it has a purpose and is relevant to the content. Not just doing something for the sake of it for example.
3. Keep on top of blogging. Don't just post things and then leave the annotation till a later date. If I do things when it's fresh in my mind then I can reflect and evaluate more effectively.
4. More effective use of type as I continue to focus on image and illustration throughout my briefs.
5.

Five ways you could improve your skills during this research brief?

1. Not making excuses when it comes to design processes, and giving myself reason not to do it. Having the confidence to just go and do something.
2. Making sure to push boundaries, and not just sticking with what I know.
3. Using the type workshops to my advantage and getting to grips with how to use type effectively alongside image.
4. Giving myself time in the day to do my blogging and not allowing myself to post images without annotating.
5.

For next Tuesday:
1. Bring five examples of branding/logos or work promoting things similar to my concept - these should be deconstructed. Why have those colours been used? Why is it in the format that it's in? Why have they used that typeface?
2. Bring five examples of print that you like that have aspects that you want to explore throughout this project. For example, binding on a book, foiling processes.
