Now that all my patterns were applied to the bottles, I could experiment with the colour and general positioning of the logo.
The logo was given to us in the brief pack in this current state. Although it is there for us to change, when placed onto the bottle, I actually felt that the solid black contrasted well against the coloured patterns. This was most effective on the first two bottles, and not so much on the rest. The second bottle really stood out to me when using this label, however, all bottles should be just as effective as the rest. It is also not very reflective of the Feel Good brand, as they use quite happy and playful colours.
I was hoping that using colour labels was going to be the most effective choice, however, I feel that some of them aren't as effective as other. The two bottles in the middle look quite dull, and don't necessarily reflect the brand itself. It is useful to note that when using colour, the type is still legible, and there is a nice contrast between the label and the linear pattern.
Removing the colour from the inside of the label doesn't work as part of the overall look of the bottle. There is too much of a stark contrast between the black and the white, which focuses the eye on the label, and not on the pattern.
By replacing the black with colour, the contrast becomes less, and it allows the logo to blend in with the pattern more, softening the appearance of the product.
Replacing the inside colour with the colour reflective of the drinks flavour. Using the colour like this isn't effective at all, and it makes the bottles look extremely cheap and nasty.
Removing the colour completely so that the logo becomes simplified. The text on the logo isn't bold enough to contrast with the pattern so much that the design doesn't become too busy. Although the black version is slightly more readable, everything looks a bit too busy inside of the logo.
After experimenting with colour, I can see what has worked and what hasn't. I want to focus on the full colour logos, however I plan on changing the colours of the designs to fit in better with the brand and make sure that all of the bottles look bright and playful.
