RESPONSE FROM THE DOG'S TRUST

Dear Miss Hayden,

Thank you for your enquiry to Dogs Trust.

Unfortunately we do not have any specific fact sheets on animal cruelty,
in general Dogs Trust to do not report on individual cases of animal
cruelty. Although many of the dogs taken to our re-homing centre may
have been subjected to cruelty we do not like to publicise this as it
upsets our supporters and in general this is an area of work that is
undertaken by the RSPCA. Due to our limited resources our main focus
tends to remain with dog welfare as a whole, and we work very hard to
promote responsible dog ownership which helps to prevent cruelty to dogs
happening in the first place. I have attached a fact sheet on the
history of Dogs Trust to this email which might be helpful to you. Also
attached here are some addresses for other animal welfare organisations,
in case you find these useful.

We do campaign on cruelty issues both here and abroad and you may have
seen stories about us on television or in the newspapers, and in this
way we make sure that the welfare of dogs is not forgotten. Some recent
campaigns, which you may have heard of, have been about the problems of
puppy farming, the Dangerous Dogs Act and the issue of tail docking.
Further information on these subjects can be found on our website
www.dogstrust.org.uk.

If there's anything else I can do to help, just let me know. If it
would be helpful for you to receive the attached through the post, I'm
very happy to send them on receipt of your address.

With kind regards,
Catherine
