STAMP IT - putting the images onto stamps

As my images are quite detailed, the stamp was going to have to be quite large. Obviously it couldn't be too big, as it still has to be practical and fitting for an envelope. I used the RSA website to get my template, and chose the largest landscape size - 41mm x 30mm.

The background of the stamp couldn't be too busy, otherwise this would distract from the detail of the bikes. A solid block colour seemed like the best way to go, using the colours on the bikes as foundations for background colours.

Each stamp was an alternate colour in relation to the bikes.
The Queen's head and the 'cycle2work' information was initially kept as a standard white, nothing too busy, as each stamp already had prominent colours involved.
I feel that the text may have to be moved, or even made bigger as on screen here it looks quite illegible. After showing them to my peers, it was decided that the text definitely had to be changed. It was also suggested that it could also be a different colour, possibly grey. After a lot of deliberating and moving around, a final layout was finally settled on.

It is evident that this works a lot better. By using the same grey as on the bike illustrations, it doesn't look too fussy or like there are too many colours on there. It also creates a nice contrast between the Queen's head, as well as being more prominent. This will make people much more likely to notice the text.
