After mocking up some gift boxes in our chosen colour scheme, we both felt like something wasn't quite clicking. The green definitely wasn't the right shade, making the set look too christmassy, and we felt that they weren't quite achieving the look that we were going for.
We therefore decided to experiment with a new colour scheme taken from our previous acorn illustration.
These colours unfortunately didn't work for us either. We were currently in a bit of a dilema. It was agreed that the colours I had originally experimented with complimented the products and the brand extremely well. However, we had the issue that it didn't necessarily put our theme across, or blend in all that well with our publication and lookbook ideas. We felt that the above colours just appear slightly bland and almost forced, and therefore we will have to experiment and develop this further.
Steph sent me over the lookbook in order to pick out some possible colours.
Using these two screenshots, I was able to pin point some of the main colours using the eye dropped tool in order to create a number of possible swatches.
These were then sent over to Steph, who decided that the green shades were maybe a little bit too garish and 'snotty'.
We decided to see how these colours would work minus the green. Something definitely lacked with just these chosen colours.
After pondering over this for a while, Steph remembered a scene that she'd seen during her research at the museum in Leeds, that included a number of different British artefacts. She felt the colours worked well within this room, and the scene was similar to what we wanted to try and create ourselves, with the inclusion of wildlife.
From this I picked out some colours.
We decided against the green, and agreed to add in a soft and pale blue. These definitely worked well as a set and looked nicely balanced against each other.
I put them against the lookbook to double check that they would compliment it nicely. These colours were successful, and a far cry from what we had originally decided upon.
